Security in Malindi is not such a problem as in the likes of Nairobi or Mombasa. However all reasonable steps have been taken to ensure that guests at the Miller's Arms are in a safe environment. The grounds are enclosed in a two metre stone wall. The grounds are lit and the house is covered by floodlights with PIR (movement sensors). An Askari is on duty during the hours of
darkness. |
|
In a medical emergency, only five minutes walk from the house is the St Peter Health Clinic. This is open 24 hours a day. As a private clinic there are charges but these are very reasonable and the standard of medical care is very high. |
| Emergency and solar lighting provide light in times of power cuts. An underground water tank of 20,000 litres capacity ensures water in case of shortages. |
|
All windows are protected with metal grills. The courtyard has a feature metal grill gate locked at night. All locks were imported from the UK and conform to BSI insurance standards. Keys for emergeny exits at night have been provided for the courtyard gate, the kitchen door and upstairs onto the two patios. |

We take fire security very seriously at the Millers Arms. In the courtyard are two water based fire extinguishers and a Co2 extinguisher is found in the kitchen. The bedrooms, hall and staircase have smoke detectors. |
